Mix 60’s Northern Soul, a little Burt Bacharach, a bit of Beat free association, a dash of Bowie and James Brown - and you get Comic Tales of Tragic Heartbreak.  This piano-driven, soul-influenced band features an incredible live show with crazy energy, outrageous humor, and unbelievable originality.  Led by Niagaras founder and front man Robert Whaley, the band’s self-titled debut is an old-school analog delight – catchy tunes, raw and honest production, a live band playing together at the same time in the same room. Not familiar with Skidmore Fountain?  Think ELO and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.  Think Flaming Lips and Can.  Think Terry Riley and Talking Heads.  Channeling a kindred spirit, NYC- based indie rock band Skidmore Fountain is a bit on the unconventional side with five-string electric cello (its fifth string acts as bass), guitar, drums, and vocals making up the group.  Skidmore brings the recording studio to the stage, with live string arrangements and ambient soundscapes looping through an Echoplex, vocals intensified through analog delay pedals, and orchestrated guitar lines all sitting atop pounding old school R&B and dub rhythms.

Spouting civil dissidence, The Born Again Floozies expand their tap-stomping, tuba-driven Floozy orchestra to bring you Street Music: Thirteen Rebellions and a Song of Consolation. The band’s third album is mixed and recorded by long time collaborator Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, PJ Harvey). A voluptuously surreal performance, the rhythm section is two tap dancers and a tuba, and the singer plays guitar like most people play piano.
